The Reach Free School received £1522 from the 16-19 tuition fund for the academic year 2023/2024
Support is prioritised for students that meet the criteria:
Students with an education, health and care (EHC) plan;
Students who have not achieved a grade 4 or 5 in English and/or maths;
Students with a grade 4 or above in English and/or maths, who are from an economically disadvantaged background and would need catch-up support, this would include students who are in receipt of the vulnerable bursary or the discretionary bursary.
Students with SEND who are in need of extra support following the disruption caused by coronavirus (COVID-19).
This fund is used for Chromebooks for students which allows them to access their work outside the classroom. In some instances, this fund is used for the repair of devices for students meeting the criteria. The fund also allowed for the continued recruitment of a head of year 12 and year of year 13 who provide academic and pastoral support to the students outlined above. The fund also allows some small targetted academic support sessions during the school day.

Students with an education, health and care (EHC) plan;
Students who have not achieved a grade 4 or 5 in English and/or maths;
Students with a grade 4 or above in English and/or maths, who are from an economically disadvantaged background and would need catch-up support, this would include students who are in receipt of the vulnerable bursary or the discretionary bursary; These are defined as students from the 27% most economically deprived areas of the country based on the index of multiple deprivation.
Students with SEND who are in need of extra support following the disruption caused by coronavirus (COVID-19).
We may subsequently be able to provide tuition on the basis of a student not having received a grade 5 in maths and/or English.
The Reach Free School will use this funding to support students and mitigate against disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The funding will be used to support the employment of the Sixth Form Pastoral Coordinator who supports the students’ attendance and punctuality, pastoral care, monitoring of progress in class and ensuring that students have access to textbooks and additional learning materials. The funding will also allow the school to timetable small targeted academic support groups for students who require additional support following the pandemic in English, maths and/ or vocational subjects or other A Levels and will be delivered by existing staff. The funding will allow the purchase of Chromebooks for disadvantaged students. These Chromebooks will allow students to access their work easily at home and continue their learning outside the classroom.
We will use the fund to provide sessions to assist high achieving disadvantaged students to reach their full potential, in addition to supporting other students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
The Reach Free School is committed to ensuring the tuition fund is used in accordance with the government’s guidance on the 16 to 19 tuition funds by:
Producing this statement explaining how we will use this funding in line with government guidance to prioritise support for disadvantaged students;
Publishing this statement on our website in the autumn term;
Keeping a record of all students in receipt of activity funded by the tuition fund.
Recording the use of the funding, including reference to the individual students that receive the support, the needs of those students, the number of hours of tuition delivered, and retain the necessary evidence of the tuition provided and additional cost;
Delivering the extra tuition and spend the associated funding in the academic year;
Notifying ESFA of any unspent funding from this fund at the end of the academic year for it to be reclaimed.
